From the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), Paula McCabe (Finance Faculty Manager) and Claire Lorimer (Finance Project Officer) made a working visit to the research unit of the LSTM at CRID, March 20-24. 2018 in Yaoundé.

The purpose of this working visit was to strengthen the financial and accounting management capacity of the LSTM-CRID research unit, through working sessions with CRID’s financial officers.

It should also allow an evaluation of ongoing projects.
The various working sessions allowed the visiting delegation to touch and measure the realities of work in Cameroon and to study the management systems put in place by the LSTM-CRID to ensure effective management of the different projects. who are staying there. It was also an opportunity for them to exchange face to face with the different people involved in the direct management of these different projects. These exchanges made it possible to understand the needs and the challenges of each other in the exercise of their task.

The strengthening of management capacities is all the more useful for the LSTM-CRID that it contributes to allow the structure to be anchored to the international standards of management and allows to develop new skills that will allow the staff to be more seasoned and ready to face the many daily challenges.

The various meetings allowed the delegation to make assessments and suggestions to the team in place to optimize the quality of management.
