Dr. Jacob RIVERON, postdoctoral Research Assistant and assistant to the head of the research unit of the LSTM at the CRID for several years, leaves Cameroon for new experiences.
To this end, a goodbye barbecue was held on Monday, January 08, 2017, at the premises of the CRID in Yaoundé. The whole team was in full swing for a life-size celebration.
At the research unit, Jacob, as everyone called him, was known to be the one to whom one could count at any moment, and the one to whom one could approach for sound advice. This farewell ceremony was an opportunity for Charles WONDJI, Head of LSTM research Unit and Executive Director of CRID, to review the circumstances that led to Jacob’s arrival on his team. He later recalled the qualities of this long-time collaborator who over the years has distinguished himself in his team by his availability, his rigor and his efficiency in the work, his sense of precision and work well done. In fact, he praised Jacob’s ability and readiness to find solutions to problems that can arise. The executive director finished his remarks by wishing all the best to Jacob (on the professional, social level) for this new adventure that will start in England., Other collaborators also took the opportunity to tell Jacob what they thought of him. Interventions from each other further confirmed what the Executive Director had previously said about Jacob.
The lab manager of the CRID, Murielle, also spoke to thank Jacob who she considers a “good team Player”, and she also expressed her gratitude to him for all that she learned in the lab during these years of collaboration. She then presents the present that the CRID has prepared for Jacob. These were given to him by two CRID students.
Very moved by this gesture of friendship, Jacob thanks all the team present, and especially Dr. WONDJI for those years where he was at his side as a collaborator. He also encourages each other to be serious and hard working. After this word, he happily stripped one of the packages he was offered.
The evening ended with the sharing of the barbecue coordinated by Drs. Billy and Cyrille of CRID.
We wish Jacob every success in his new position of team leader at Syngenta in UK.
