It is approximately 2 pm, Thursday, October 26, 2017, when Prof. Oumar GAYE, accompanied by Prof Wilfried Mbacham of MARCAD Cameroon and a delegation of the MARCAD consortium (Malaria Research Capacity Development in West and Central Africa) are hosted at the premises of the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), this as part of a scientific visit. On the agenda of this visit was a presentation session of the research by the researchers of the unit and a visit of the laboratories of the LSTM. In front of the visitors of the day and the guests, the researchers and students of the Unit exposed the main lines of their research work. After moments of discussion on these presentations, Dr. WONDJI led his guests to the actual visit of the Unit’s facilities.
This visit marks the collaboration between MARCAD and the LSTM research unit. Collaboration that has the merit of helping to promote research on issues around malaria, which is one of the causes of child deaths in Cameroon.
Prof. Oumar GAYE is a reference in the fight against malaria in Africa. He is the head of the department of parasitology-mycology of the Faculty of Medicine of Cheick Anta Diop University (UCAD) of Senegal and president of the organizing committee of the next MIM (Multilateral Initiative on Malaria) to be held in Senegal in April 2018.
